Tasted after the Vieilles Vignes cuvée, which showed richly concentrated fruit, and the 'La Roche' which was tauter and crunchier, really tasting like it's on rock, the 'Champ du Cour' is almost like a synthesis of the two, the fruit is nicely filled-out, and the structure and mineral length are there too. The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Champs de Coeur has a classy, delineated bouquet with black cherries, wild strawberry and violet scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely rondeur, soft texture but there is backbone here. Impressive length. This is worth seeking out. 4 barrels made. Another rich purple colour. A heady nose but cleaner than Perrelles. A little bit of ripe peach with the red fruit. Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, Beaujolais

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair have purchased eight prime parcels of vines in Moulin-a-Vent. The grapes were sold off in 2008 because they felt it took more than just one year working with the vines to get them to perform. 'My objective was not to buy a domaine, but to buy vineyards in different spots. What is very important for me', says Liger-Belair,'is to showcase the difference between each type of granite and each exposure.' Two refrigerated trucks a day delivered fruit to be pressed in Nuits-Saint-Georges (all destemmed in the 2009 vintage and only gently pumped over to 'infuse', never punched down) and raised in used barriques.
