TIO PEPE FINO 2023 RELEASE

TIO PEPE FINO 'Saca' 2023 RELEASE En Rama Gonzalez Byass

Grapes Palomino
Origin Spain, Sherry
ABV 15%

I always get excited tasting the En Rama releases each year because these raw, unfiltered, and somewhat challenging wines are more food-friendly, combative, and connoisseur-style than the all-year-round, much tamer, filtered wines. This year’s release of Tio Pepe’s legendary En Rama Fino is no exception, with big, salty, nut and olive hints, main course intensity and an immense finish. I don’t doubt you could tackle every dish on the most encyclopaedic menu imaginable, and this wine would go with every single one! 18/20 Drinking range: 2023 - Rating: 18 Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Aug 2023)

Tio Pepe 'en rama' has broken through yet another barrier with the selection far this vintage. We moved from the original Constancia and Rebollo wineries where the first so/eras were laid in the 19th century and ventured into the 1960s to select butts from the so/eras at the Gran Bodega Tio Pepe. We chose 98 butts from across the three cellars, with each contributing its own features - influenced by structure, geographical orientation, temperature and humidity to the final blend. 1he weather during the growing year was marked by an almost spring-like winter, which meant the layer of flor was able to be remain active and healthy, providing another year of life. Bottled on 31st March 2023.
Wild, no filters, en rama.

TASTING NOTE Straw yellow over an olive-green background with golden glints. This fino displays very expressive and intense aromas of yeast, nuts, fresh apples and chalk. On the palate, the wine is captivating, fresh, intense, smooth and creamy.

Gonzalez Byass

In 1835, a young man called Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez, intent on making a name for himself in the thriving and lucrative sherry business. Encouraged by the consistent growth in exports, that same year he purchased a small winery and began to produce and export his own wines. This was the start of Bodegas Tío Pepe which, due to the firm’s increasing success, became the González Byass company soon afterwards. Today, Bodegas Tío Pepe is known around the world as one of the leading producers of sherry and Brandy de Jerez.
