Paler than the Lavières, seems initially brighter yet and more mineral. Nicely harmonious and good fine tannins on finish.L&S (Jan 2014)

(vinified with 30% whole clusters; from a tiny crop due to coulure resulting from cold weather during the flowering; 12.3% natural alcohol): Bright medium red. Sweet red fruits on the expressive nose. Then sweet but rather backward on the palate, with spicy flavors of redcurrant, strawberry and leather framed by stony minerality. This is starting to shut down in the bottle and has serious tannins for aging. Drinking range: 2021 - 2028 Rating: 91 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Mar 2015)
A background application of wood allows the elegant, pure and cool aromas of plum, violets and earth to shine. There is an evident minerality that adds lift to the vibrant and beautifully well-delineated medium weight flavors that are shaped by admirably fine-grained tannins on the solidly complex and persistent finish. I very much like the delivery of this impeccably well-balanced effort that should amply repay 10 to 12 years of cellar time. 2022+ Rating: 92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Apr 2014)
The 2012 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses has a delightful, floral bouquet with dried rose petals infusing the red cherry and fresh strawberry scents. The palate is well structure with gritty tannins, fine tension and symmetry on the finish that is very appealing. Nothing over the top here – just finely made, approachable Burgundy wine that I suspect will age far better than many will give it. Drink now-2020. Rating: 90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Mar 2014)
Palish red. Less pretty on the nose than the foregoing samples owing to some reduction but reveals aromas of licorice, flowers, citrus pith and crushed stone with aeration. Hard to taste today following the purer wines from tank, but tightly wound and minerally, with a firm tannic spine and a strong crushed stone character. I'm usually a big fan of this wine, and I suspect I'm underrating it today. Rating: 90-92 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Jan 2014)
Domaine Chandon de Briailles
One of the great family domaines of the Côte d'Or, housed in the remarkable manor house at Savigny, with excellent holdings in Savigny itself and in neighbouring Pernand and on the hill of Corton. Organic since 1988 and, now, biodynamic (fully certified by Demeter and Ecocert). It is run by brother and sister François and Claude de Nicolaÿ. As François explains, they do not make 'bêtes de concours' or competition wines, but ones you drink. They have over the last few years progressed the renewal of the barrels of the domaine - there is still very little actual new wood, 5% new wood on the premiers crus, and 10% on the Grands crus, but they have replaced the oldest barrels which they have come to understand did have an effect of closing the wines down.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.
While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.
