2017 Domaine Laurent Tribut

Tasted from the barrel this is beautifully bright, fresh and clean. There is an intensely savoury whiff of iodine and lovely crunched-up shells. A saline undercurrent runs through and is softened by some lovely fruit notes of crisp pear, some pithy lemon and a spray of white flowers. Great classic pure Chablis, so impressive for a 'Village' wine. Complex and intense, yet restrained for now - has everything you could hope for in 'proper' Chablis.L&S(Oct 2018)

There is excellent Chablis typicity to the nose that combines notes of pear and apple with those of quinine, iodine and algae. The succulent, round and pliant medium-bodied flavors possess a satiny mouth feel before concluding in a saline, dry and sneaky long finish. This offers very fine quality for its level and is worth a look. 2021+ Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, 2018)

Very flinty lemons and piercing citrus fruit here. Plenty of richness and power with refined essence-like citrus punch. A long finish. Very dry and even. Drink now or hold. Rating: 92-93 James Suckling, 2018)

The 2017 Chablis Villages is excellent, wafting from the glass with notes of almond paste, crisp white peach, ripe citrus peel and spring flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a tangy line of acidity to counterbalance its generous core of fruit and a tense, chalky finish. At this early stage, it appears to be a touch more tensile and acid-driven than the corresponding wine from Solange Tribut, though that could simply be a function of the barrels I tasted. As readers likely know, the bulk of this cuvée derives from the part of Fôrets classified as Chablis AOC. Rating: 90-92 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate(Aug 2018)

The 2017 Chablis has a subtle scent of stem ginger and brown spice on the elegant nose. The palate is well balanced with a very fine bead of acidity, full of tension with a tang of spice towards the lively finish. Excellent. Drinking range: 2019 - 2023 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, 2018)

Laurent Tribut is married to Vincent Dauvissat's sister, Marie Clotilde. When he started he made his wines in the Dauvissat cellar in Chablis, but now this small family-run domaine is based in Poinchy. You could not hope to meet a more charming and mild-mannered man than Laurent. He is a quiet genius, making some of the purest and most classical wines in the appellation.

Three (Solange, Adeline and Gabriel) of Laurent's four children all now work with him. With his guidance the future here looks very bright. With just 6 hectares the quantities are small - but the quality of all his cuvées is extraordinary. Pure, powerfully driven, classically shaped there is more than a passing similarity to the wines of his brother-in-law the head-line grabbing Vincent Dauvissat. Buyers will enjoy these long-lived wines with some time in bottle too - they have a great ability to age and patience will pay off, we recently tasted the 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2004 with Laurent in his cellar and it was bright, young and full of vigour - nearly 15 years on. This is brilliant, classic Chablis made by a quiet maestro.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.

PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.

DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering. We do not anticipate any problems but please be aware that delays to delivery may occur should Britain's possible departure from the European Union result in additional border customs checks or other regulatory requirements. Any additional or unforeseen duties, tariffs, charges or other financial liabilities relating to 'Brexit' must be due to the customer and will be added to orders as required.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.

PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders. We reserve the right to apply a dunning charge of 2% per month on invoices unpaid after 30 days.
