RULLY

2017 1er Cru La Pucelle Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson

EN PRIMEUR

Tasted after the Margotés this is less open and generous on the nose. More considered, somehow. On the palate it is tightly wound and retains lots of pep. Intensely tight fruit character which unwraps into some softer peachy streaks and a touch of riper, creamier feeling. Some creamy 'carambar' notes too add another dimension. There is lots to taste and feel - and it is all underpinned well by the unflinching line of racy acidity. Their plot here was planted in 1992 - and is mostly limestone. Drinking range: 2019 - 2025L&S (Nov 2018)

* This is a pre-shipment/primeur offer. All orders are accepted under the TERMS of this offer which differ from the terms of the rest of the site.

Quite rich nose and then tight fruit on the palate. Needs a bit of time to open out but admirably tight and ambitious. Drinking range: 2020 - 2024 Rating: 16+ Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2019)

The 2017 Rully, 1er Cru La Pucelle has gone up £20 (per case), but it still looks like a great buy. A leading light in Rully, this is a wine with a longer life ahead of it than the two proceeding vintages. Rating: 17+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Jan 2019)

The domaine was founded in 1946 by Henri Jacqueson and passed to his son Paul. Marie joined her father in 2006 and since 2015 she and her brother Pierre run the estate, now known simply as P&M Jacqueson. The domaine consists of 18 hectares of vines, mostly in Rully, but also 5 in Mercurey and some in Bouzeron. The team also tend vines owned by their neighbours and make some beautiful wines from other peoples' fruit that they themselves have worked all year.

Traditional methods meticulously applied inspire everything they do: the grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in classical fashion, before an élevage in barrel (up to 25% new wood for the reds, just 20% for the 1er Cru Whites). The domaine has become adept at a sophisticated use of barrels, the élevage here is key to the quality they consistently achieve.

STORAGE OPTIONS:

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.
