The biggest part of the domaine is in Chambolle, and goes from the Bourgogne below the road, up through les Nazoires and les Condemennes to the Premier Cru parcel in Charmes. Sappy and silky, this is a lovely fresh Chambolle with depth to the fruit and lovely shape and length. Drinking range: 2025 - 2035L&S (Oct 2020)

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village offers light red berry fruit on the nose, fine delineation, nothing complex but it has a carefree charm. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and fine definition, though it clams up towards the finish. Therefore, afford this 2-3 years in bottle so that it can spread its wings. Drinking range: 2023 - 2033 Rating: 88-90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2021)
Cask sample. Heady and rather lusciously fruited on the nose. Sweet fruit but a bit candified too. Grainy tannins. Perhaps it just needs time to charm? Drinking range: 2025 - 2035 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2021)
Domaine Christian Clerget
A domaine of 6 hectares, with 8 appellations, run by Christian, Isabelle and their daughter Justine Clerget from their house in the northern end of the little village of Vougeot, which is really in the commune of Chambolle. They have been organic (certified) since 2017, Justine having insisted on it when she joined them, but it sounds as though she was pushing at an open door, because Christian is entirely committed to this approach and clearly believes that good wine starts with the vines.
At harvest the grapes are picked into small cases for the short trip to the winery which really is right in the middle of their holdings. They adapt to the vintage conditions, so that they did 2 pigeages in total in 2019, whereas in 2017, they did one a day throughout the fermentation. In 2018 they did some whole bunch fermentation, but reverted to their normal complete destemming in 2019. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation Christian decants into tank, allows the wine to settle for ten days, then puts the wines into barrel where they stay without racking until bottling. They are using about 30% new wood on the villages and 40% on the Chambolle Charmes and the Échézeaux, and the wines say in barrel for a long élevage of 18-20 months.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.
While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.
