2019 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques Domaine Dugat-Py

A fat texture, the power wrapped, but the power is there too. Lots of concentrated silky suave texture, but bulk of a grizzly even if it has got a soft pelt. Cassis and spicy black fruit, it just becomes more and more interesting and mouth watering. Amazing length. Drinking range: 2035 - 2050L&S (Oct 2020)

Reduction overshadows the fruit at present. More interesting are the succulent and generously proportioned medium weight plus flavors that are very rich, even plush, and thus perhaps a bit less well-delineated than usual though the hallmark minerality is certainly present in spade. The intensity really builds as this sits on the palate and overall, this should be outstanding in time. Drinking range: 2036 - Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2021)

Brooding and reserved, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques unwinds in the glass with notes of wild berries, cassis, smoked meats, rich soil tones, mandarin rind and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly muscular and concentrated, it's seamless and complete, with a deep, tightly wound core, beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish. This is a serious Lavaux Saint-Jacques that will require some patience. Rating: 93 - 95+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru, matured in two-thirds new oak and 50% whole bunch, was more reduced than the Champeaux when I tasted it from barrel. There appears to be a higher proportion of red fruit on the nose here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and slightly grainy in texture, offering clementine and marmalade-infused black cherry and wild strawberry fruit. Tangy and full of energy on the finish. This is another great Premier Cru from Loïc Dugat-Py. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 93-95 Neal Martin, (Dec 2020)

Smells very rich, not at all as though it comes from anywhere cool! Dark and mysterious. Approachable and dense without being heavy. Very majestic. Just a hint of treacle and lots of freshness. Drinking range: 2026 - 2042 Rating: 18 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - (Dec 2020)

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.

PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.

DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.

PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders. We reserve the right to apply a dunning charge of 2% per month on invoices unpaid after 30 days.
