2019 Coeur de Roy Domaine Dugat-Py

10 barrels. Huge fresh fruit nose, blackberry and cassis, totally fresh and pure, mouth filling. Big wine but still a Burgundian balance, in case you were worrying. Concentrated and goes on and on. Lots of peps and energy. Drinking range: 2030 - 2045L&S (Oct 2020)

Reduction pushes the fruit to the background today though there is lovely freshness to the delicious, vibrant and well-detailed flavors that exude evident minerality on the complex, lingering and balanced finale. The supporting tannins are really quite fine and overall, and somewhat surprisingly, the palate impression is almost delicate. Drinking range: 2025 - Rating: 89-92 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2021)

Always the richest and most muscular of Dugat-Py's communal bottlings, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy unwinds in the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, forest floor, spices and grilled meats. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with a broad-shouldered chassis of fine, powdery tannins and lively acids, it's long and penetrating. As usual, it derives from vines between 50 and 109 years of age located in the lieux-dits Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise and Les Marchais, and it was vinified with 60% whole cluster and raised in 50% new oak. Having visited the domaine's vines before harvest, I can attest that its deep, saturated hue comes from an abundance of tiny, shot berries with a high skins-to-juice ratio, rather than to any desire to push extraction in the winery. Rating: 91-93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin "Cuvée Coeur de Roy," blended with 40% whole bunch, has an intense bouquet of small dark cherries mixed with raspberry and black currant pastille scents; there is fine delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannins, well-judged acidity and a stocky and quite grippy, chalky-textured finish. Give this 18–24 months once in bottle to smooth its edges. Drinking range: 2023 - 2033 Rating: 88-90 Neal Martin, (Dec 2020)

Very heady indeed – a liqueur on the nose! Incredibly rich! Yet with sufficient life and acidity. Amazing punch. Real excitement – concentration but not too much tannin. Drinking range: 2027 - 2040 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - (Dec 2020)

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.

PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.

DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.

PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders. We reserve the right to apply a dunning charge of 2% per month on invoices unpaid after 30 days.
