2019 Évocelles Domaine Dugat-Py

6 barrels. Showing rather closed on the day, mineral, sleek fat fruit. A great sense mineral and cool freshness, so that even if it is aromatically closed it's all here. Drinking range: 2030 - 2045L&S (Oct 2020)

A cool, pure and airy nose is comprised by notes of various red berries, plum, earth and a suggestion of the sauvage. Once again there is a lovely texture to the firm but elegant flavors that are also supported by fine-grained tannins on the chiseled finale. This too is a very good villages level wine. Drinking range: 2031 - Rating: 90-92 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2021)

Mingling aromas of wild berries and peonies with hints of dark chocolate, orange rind and cinnamon, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with lively acids, elegantly powdery tannins and a long, mineral finish. Finer-boned and more ethereal than the richer, more muscular Coeur du Roy, this is frequently my favorite communal bottling chez Dugat-Py, and the 2019 rendition is no exception. Rating: 91 - 93+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles, from a Village Cru adjacent to Les Champeaux with 50% whole bunch and the same new oak, was showing a bit of reduction on the nose, although there seems to be plenty of black fruit here. The palate is more expressive, offering juicy ripe black fruit, and quite saline and almost briny toward the structured finish. Good freshness and energy, although it will require 3–4 years in bottle. Drinking range: 2023 - 2038 Rating: 91-93 Neal Martin, (Dec 2020)

Rich blackcurrant nose. A little more moderate on the palate than the Coeur du Roy, but very nicely balanced and relatively approachable. Lots of juice. Very clean and lively. Drinking range: 2026 - 2040 Rating: 17 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - (Dec 2020)

Domaine Dugat-Py, along with only DRC, Roumier, Rousseau and Leroy, is rated in the top Three Star category by the 'Classement' published by the Revue du Vin de France. These are the essence of robust Burgundy, wines of huge scale and concentration. Patience is required, so lay down a few grand bottles for your dotage.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.

PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.

DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.

PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders. We reserve the right to apply a dunning charge of 2% per month on invoices unpaid after 30 days.
