PULIGNY MONTRACHET

2019 Au Paupillot Domaine Thomas-Collardot

EN PRIMEUR

From vines planted in 1974. A dark soil with lots of stones - there's an underground watercourse here, so it does not suffer from drought. Generous - a lovely richness allied to bright minerality - the acid balance keeping good freshness. Drinking range: 2021 - 2026L&S (Oct 2020)

(a rarely seen vineyard). A discreet if perceptible touch of wood sets off the essence of pear and apple aromas that are trimmed in hints of lemon-lime and soft floral wisps. There is good power to the slightly more concentrated medium weight flavors that conclude in a citrus zest suffused finish that also exhibits a touch of rusticity along with a hint of warmth. Drinking range: 2024 - Rating: 88-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jun 2021)

Jacqueline Collardot and her son Matthieu own and run this exciting 'micro-domaine' in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. Matthieu completed his studies last year and joined Jacqueline permanently, just in time for the harvest. Once they are doing it together we look forward to a slightly bigger production - as for now she is limited to what she can achieve all on her own.

At only 2.5ha, this is an artisan project, allowing Jacqueline to give unrivalled time and care to every parcel she has. Jacqueline inherited these vineyards from her father’s Domaine Thomas Pierre in 2010 after he retired and is slowly raising the profile with her incredible care and attention. Although there may not be much quantity - the quality is impeccable. These are classically shaped, bright wines that express their various Puligny terroirs perfectly. She likes a long, slow élevage on the lees, with very little new wood used. Typically the wines spend two winters in the cellar before she then bottles in line with the moon in March.

The domaine is now on its way to organic certification (they have been at it for three years now) and the 1er Crus are worked by horse.

STORAGE OPTIONS:

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. If you require wines duty paid, please indicate this in your Wishlist order form. A duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.
