2020 Grand Cru Domaine Faiveley

The 2020 Clos de Beze is a total knockout. Heavily laden with bright zippy fruit - sweet cranberries and pert raspberries lead the charge - there is great acidity and endless energy too. The rich weight of fruit remains spritely and so lifted, despite its intensity. This motors across the palate flicking switches of joy along the way and goes on and on. Clean lines and confident push make you want to go back for more. A wine with a long, bright future. Brilliant.L&S (Nov 2021)

Woo wee! There are lots of spicy top notes, even barbecue spices, and aged meats on this nose. Sweet and crunchy red fruits press into the palate along with smoky oak, forest floor and pencil lead. The fine tannins sit primly on the palate while the reverberating acidity supports the medium body. This is immediately enticing but deserves time in bottle. Drinking range: 2025 - 2045 Rating: 97 Christy Canterbury MW - (Feb 2022)

The 2020 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries and cherries mingled with dark chocolate, sweet spices, peonies and grilled squab. Full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's concentrated and multidimensional, with a dramatically textural, perfumed palate and a long, saline finish. Rating: 95-97 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)

(from a 1.29 ha parcel). Noticeable wood is present on the super-spicy and floral nose of layered red and blue pinot fruit aromas. The mouthfeel of the large-scaled flavors is positively gorgeous with excellent richness, indeed opulence, that contrasts with the youthfully austere, complex and hugely long finish where a touch of warmth slowly emerges. This is also seriously impressive. Drinking range: 2037 - Rating: 93-96 Allen Meadows, (Jan 2022)

The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a very delineated, quite floral bouquet with rose petal infusing the mixture of red and black fruit. There is a touch of sous-bois that become accentuated with time. The palate is fleshy and almost confit-like on the entry, but the acidity keeps this on an even keel. Plush, luxuriant...almost sexy (I dislike the word apropos Burgundy) but there is something very sensual about this wine. Very long in terms of length. Superb. Drinking range: 2027 - 2055 Rating: 95-97 Neal Martin, (Nov 2021)

The Faiveley family are the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, owning around 120ha, spread across the Côtes de Nuits, Beaune and Chalonnaise and encompassing everything from generic Bourgogne up to the grandest of Grand Crus. Their holdings supply the grapes for 5 out of every 6 bottles made by Faiveley, the balance being bought in from carefully selected contract growers.

Wines bought en primeur are scheduled to arrive in the UK over the course of the next eighteen months. If you do not wish to take home delivery, you may wish to consider where you would like the wines shipped on arrival in the UK. Lea & Sandeman offers duty paid and in bond storage through a dedicated storage company called Elephant Storage. For more details on the terms and fees associated with storage please go to our Storage Homepage or contact our primeurs team for more information.

While helpful, we do not require a firm commitment on delivery destination to process your primeur order at this stage. Our team will be in contact with you when your wines arrive in the UK to confirm the necessary delivery details.

OFFER: All wines are offered subject to availability and final confirmation.

PRICING: All prices are quoted IN BOND ex-VAT, by the case size stated. Please double check that the desired case size does match what is being offered as wines are variously listed in threes, sixes, dozens, halves and larger formats.

DELIVERY - TIMING: This is a primeur offer so the wines are not yet physically available for delivery. They will be shipped to the UK over the next eighteen months. Generally, wines are shipped to your nominated location once the whole order has landed in our London City Bond account. If you require wines to be delivered by a certain date, please advise us at the time of ordering. We do not anticipate any problems but please be aware that delays to delivery may occur should Britain's possible departure from the European Union result in additional border customs checks or other regulatory requirements. Any additional or unforeseen duties, tariffs, charges or other financial liabilities relating to 'Brexit' must be due to the customer and will be added to orders as required.

DELIVERY - FEES: In bond delivery to an Elephant Storage account (for more information see 'Storage Options' opposite) is free of charge. Transfer of wines to any third-party bond (i.e. not Elephant Storage) will incur an administration charge of £16.50 + VAT for all orders under £1,000. Please indicate if you would like the wine duty paid and a duty & VAT invoice will be raised once all the wines on your order are available for shipment. Once the relevant duty & VAT has been settled, we will ship the wines to your nominated address as per our normal duty paid Delivery Terms.

PAYMENT: All orders will be invoiced for immediate payment by cheque, cash, debit card or cleared funds to our account. We regret that we cannot accept credit cards for primeur orders. We reserve the right to apply a dunning charge of 2% per month on invoices unpaid after 30 days.
