Wednesday Wines – Episode 92 – A standout, bargain-priced 2020 White Burgundy!, Matthew Jukes, 06/01/2022:

2020 Lea & Sandeman

2020 LEA & SANDEMAN White Burgundy Bourgogne Blanc
£14.50 | £12.95
Review: ‘I thought I would use my ‘free to view’ Wednesday Wines spot this week to give L&S a one-off mention with a wine which I think sums up the 2020 vintage in just one sip. The L&S White Burgundy is always a superb wine and, once again, it comes from the same single vineyard source near Saint-Véran as in previous vintages. 2020 is a superb vintage and this wine shows the ripeness of the grapes coupled with, the saving grace in this vintage, bright, perky acidity. The finest wines are glossy and also refreshing – these are enviable traits when they are working in tandem! Of course, when you look at the price of this wine, you will rightly wonder is it up to scratch, but I can assure you it is! There is a lot of wine for the money here with creaminess matched with classiness and I would load up with as much as you can carry because, so far, it is the least expensive white wine that I feel confident will amaze my followers. If you like this wine’s flavour, then by all means wade deeper into the 2020 white Burgundy pool with my guidance.’

The unfashionable wine that we all secretly love, The Telegraph, Victoria Moore, 06/01/2022:

2020 Pinot Grigio Visintini

2020 PINOT GRIGIO Ramato Friuli Colli Orientali Azienda Agricola Visintini
£14.95 | £13.50
Review: ‘One example is Visintini Pinot Grigio Ramato 2020. Ramato is a reference to the colour of the wine. I wouldn’t call this pink but it is tinged with bronze. A beautifully precise wine, it also has hints of pear and spice. Perhaps not the more invisible white that some pinot grigio fans will be after but maybe worth a look anyway.’
