Nonagenarian vines deliver a rich cherry nose. Very concentrated and dense, this is full bodied with big, ripe tannins. A wine of swagger and some power. Good length. Rating: 90-90 Decanter Magazine (Sep 2014)

Although like other 2010 from Domaine de la Douaix this wine is yet to be bottled, I find this does not quite have the harmony or purity as the Terres Nobles. The palate is better with crisp, chalky tannins and fresh dark cherry and cranberry fruit. Nice tension, almost brittle on the finish. This deserves more time. Rating: 90+ Neal Martin, www.robertparker.com (Jul 2012)

Milder and more malty than the Terres Nobles bottling. Drying finish. But very clean, crystalline fruit. Slightly bitter damson fruit. 2015-2019 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2012)

Great value for this amount of concentrated dark cherry and damson fruit bound up in firm, fine-grained tannins. Lively acidity brings the long, earthy finish into focus. Rating: 93 Natasha Hughes MW, www.wine-pages.com (Jan 2012)

Domaine de la Douaix

Mark and Gilles Moustie are Belgians, wine and Burgundy fans. The family rented a gite for many years in the Hautes Côtes village of Arcenant, straight up the hill to the west of Nuits Saint Georges, and gently graduated from buying wines at domaines up and down the Côte to wanting to make the wine themselves. Eventually they bought some vines and a house with cellars, and set to. These three wines are all from vines they own, but they do make a little wine from bought-in fruit to supplement what is still a tiny domaine. Mark is Belgium-based, a management consultant, so it is his son Gilles who is hands-on on a daily basis.
