Vineyard La Richemone

The 2010 Nuits St. Georges La Richemone Ultra, from a vineyard planted in 1902, is super-finessed and classy. The fruit seems to hover on the palate. Dark cherries, plums, sweet spices and mint are some of the many notes that come together in the glass. The precise, understated finish is beautifully articulated. 2020-2030 Rating: 92-94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2013)

This is also sufficiently reduced to render the nose impossible to fairly assess. This is indisputably richer and riper than the regular cuvée with its velvety, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that display an abundance of dry extract that buffers the notably firm tannins before terminating in a velvety and mouth coating finish. This is a big but not inelegant effort that will need 12 to 15 years to be at its best. Drink 2022+ Rating: 92-94 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Mar 2012)

Good dark red. Cassis and minerals on the nose, along with a whiff of leather. Sweet, lush and full but with more verve than the "regular" old-vines Richemone. Comes across as full-blown yet quite young, with mineral and leather notes dominating on the palate. Finishes with sweet, fine-grained tannins and excellent persistence. Rating: 92 - 94 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Jan 2012)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
