Like all Jean-Philippe Janoueix's wines, there is concentrated depth of colour and richness. A much more harmonious first nose than its stablemate Sacré Coeur, and a more seamless texture too. It is livelier and brighter. I like the acidity in this which make it lively and long. Very impressive. I notice that one of our competitors is claiming that this has not been available en primeur in the UK before, although we have been selling consistently to a loyal band of followers for at least ten vintages. Black plum gives richness on the nose and plumpness on the palate. The fruit feels ripe the tannins rounded the mid palate supple and fleshy with the richness of the fruit filling out the back palate. 2018-40 Rating: 88-92 Derek Smedley MW, www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk (Dec 2013)

One of the brilliant wines from the talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix, this tiny 13.5-acre vineyard near Le Pin and Vieux-Chateau-Certan was cropped at 32 hectoliters per hectare. At 13.6% alcohol, it’s no wimpy wine, and the final blend was 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. One of Pomerol’s more reasonably priced offerings, the 2011 La Croix Saint-Georges reveals a dense purple color along with a sweet bouquet of melted chocolate, toasty oak, blackberries and cedar. Full-bodied with outstanding ripeness, a supple texture, decent acidity and well-integrated tannin, it should drink well for 10-15 years. 2012 - 2027 Rating: 90-93 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, www.RobertParker.com (Apr 2012)
