The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes wraps around the palate with sweet dark cherry, plum, smoke and licorice, all in a soft, caressing style with considerable near-term appeal. Savory herbs, mint and wild flowers are nicely layered into the expressive, resonant finish. 2017-2027 Rating: 90-92 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Jan 2014)

(from 90 to 100 year old vines). This is also markedly ripe yet retains a good sense of freshness to the spicy red and black currant aromas. The mouth feel is lush to the point of opulence as the concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of mid-palate concentration and dry extract, all wrapped in a mineralinflected finish that exhibits just a touch of austerity. This is a robust yet refined Chambolle villages. 2019+ Rating: 89-91 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2014)

The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from a 0.70-hectare parcel originally planted almost a century ago. It possesses a more floral bouquet compared to the Gevrey village, with perfumed scents of black cherry and redcurrant jus mixed with a touch of soy. The palate is medium-bodied with good tension. There is a fine thread of acidity, whilst the finish is very silky and alluring, even if I would have liked more personality to show through at this stage. Fine. Rating: 88-90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2014)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
