82% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc. Bright ruby, with rose petal nose and texture like soft cool rose petals too. Drys a little in a nicely tonic way on the Cabernet Franc. This is a really convincing wine although it could do with a touch more drive on the finish. Rating: 90+ L&S (Apr 2013)

The 2012 Fugue de Nenin is quite open and expressive, which makes it an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Crushed flowers, herbs, dried red cherries and espresso lift from the glass in this attractive Pomerol, with just a touch of greenness that detracts from the wine's overall balance. The improvements that are apparent in the grand vin are also on show here. The alcohol is on the high side, despite the early harvest, but this is not a powerful Pomerol.
