Like the Clos de Bèze bottling, this is made with fruit purchased from Pierre Damoy (although Christophe Perrot-Minot decides on the picking date). Mint, blood orange, tobacco spice, dense fruit, bright acidity and firm, yet fine-grained tannins. A symphony in a bottle. 2022-32 Drinking range: 2022 - 2032 Rating: 98 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Jan 2016)

A big, rich wine, the 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru emphasizes extract and density, followed by gorgeous aromatics that give the wine its sense of dimension. Dried rose petals, white pepper and blood orange add elements of intrigue in an intense, resonant Chambertin that is likely to require quite a bit of cellaring. Power and finesse collide in a Chambertin of true pedigree. Drinking range: 2025 - 2043 Rating: 94-97 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2015)

This is even more aromatically restrained than the Bèze with a markedly floral and earth-scented nose of both red and dark berries that is cool, elegant and airy. The rich, intense and overtly muscular big-bodied flavors are a bit more mineral-driven as well and I very much like the mid-palate density that adds to the sense of scale, all wrapped in hugely long finish where the abundant dry extract does a fine job of pushing the very firm tannic spine to the background, at least for the moment. The Bèze is a knock-out but my instinct is that ultimately this will prove to be the slightly better wine in time. Drink 2030+ Rating: 94-96 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2015)

Good medium red. Aromas of maraschino cherry, raspberry, minerals, brown spices, game and crushed rock display a cool medicinal reserve. Then wonderfully sweet on the palate, with an almost confectionery quality to its red fruit flavors leavened by menthol and mineral elements. Shuts down quickly in the glass, with its serious underlying spine quickly taking over. The youthfully austere, tannic finish conveys a tactile impression of solidity and outstanding grip, but without any impression of weight. All in reserve today, and in need of extended cellaring. Drinking range: 2027 - 2042 Rating: 93-96 Stephen Tanzer, www.vinousmedia.com (Jan 2015)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
