CHÂTEAU MANOIR DU GRAVOUX

2014 Côtes de Castillon

Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
District Right Bank
Sub-district Saint Emilion & Satellites
Village Côtes de Castillon
ABV 13.5%

Another lovely wine from the Thienpont stable (who seemingly can do no wrong at present) where the berries are picked according to each parcel’s stage of maturation and a highly precise vinification can then be undertaken. This 2014 is very fresh and elegant with fine tannins and lovely fruit. It will develop further but was showing beautifully at our recent Trinity House tasting and the nearby spittoon didn’t deserve it. 88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc. L&S (Sept 2019)

Really pure fruit on the nose, dark plums and blue fruit with a touch of eucalypt. Soft, slightly chewy tannins and pure fruit-led mid palate – nice freshness and a very pleasant drinking wine. Drinking range: 2019 - 2023 Rating: 15.5 Alistair Cooper MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Dec 2019)
