From really great terroir, there is lots going on here. Lovely freshness to the fruit, really impresive shape and restrained style. Elegant with good flow and feel. L&S (Apr 2015)

The 2014 Moulin Saint-Georges is a hugely appealing, open-knit wine built on freshness and aromatics. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and floral notes abound in a racy, layered St.-Emilion that offers considerable near and medium-term appeal. This is the most immediate of the wines in the Vauthier family's range. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Rating: 88-90 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (May 2015)
The Château Moulin Saint Georges 2013 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, picked between 3 and 7 October and aged in 85% new oak for what will around 18 months. The pH came in at 3.50 - Pauline Vauthier remarking that is usually lower than the family's other Saint Emilion, possibly because they do not add fertilizer on the soil. It has a bright, vivacious bouquet with blueberry jam, wild strawberry and citrus fruit. The acidity really comes through conspicuously on the palate: this is razor-sharp, very edgy with a focused, minerally finish. The question is whether it would benefit from a slightly higher pH and maybe with respect to this vintage that is true. But still, this is a well crafted, personality-driven Saint Emilion. Drinking range: 2018 - 2032 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Apr 2015)
Same ownership as Ausone. Juicy and fresh with finely edged tannins. Poised and elegant with the fruit present. Undemonstrative but harmonious. Drinking range: 2019 - 2029 Rating: 88 James Lawther MW, decanter.com (Apr 2015)
Château Moulin Saint Georges
Owned by Alain Vauthier, Château Moulin Saint Georges is situated in Saint-Emilion and covers 7 hectares. The vineyards are well sited on the south-west facing 'Pavie' slope. The average age of the vines on this slope is 26 years old, and they are planted at a density of 6500 vines/hectare. Vauthier believes that the quality of his wine is a direct result of how well the vines are tended to, therefore yields are kept extremely low in order to concentrate the flavour, and all grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the best grapes are used in production.
