A jump up the the first of the premiers crus. An intensity of tight weave, taut and mouthwatering, fine expressive juice-filled tannins. Classy and long. Drinking range: 2023 - L&S (Nov 2015)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Perrot-Minot's 2014 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Riottes offers plenty of ripe strawberry and raspberry preserves aromas despite just a touch of reduction, although this ebbed away with a bit of swirling. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a fine line of acidity, gently grippy in the mouth with a rather aloof but attractive finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle and a decent decanting to get the most from this Morey-Saint-Denis because there is plenty of potential. Tasted September 2017. Offering a mix of ripe cherry, plum and oak spice flavors, this red is smooth, yet backed by a thick layer of dusty tannins. Stays fresh and focused, but needs time to absorb the tannins and allow the fruit to shine. Combines elegance and power. Best from 2022 through 2045. Bright dark red. Raspberry and flinty mineral aromas are accented by peppery spices. Densely packed, sappy and quite dry, conveying strong inner-mouth lift and crunchiness to the juicy dark raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes with lively lingering spicy perfume. Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot
Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
