Very slinky and cool, a good weight combined with a fine dry but flowing texture. Grown-up dark fruit expression, really this is very classy. Fruit remains fresh on the finish too. Rating: 91-92 L&S (Apr 2016)

Gunsmoke reduction on the opening, tobacco leaf and capiscum, deep black cherry and cedar, balanced and succulent, already in its drinking window but with plenty of time ahead of it. In an excellent vintage for the Château’s Grand Vin, it’s no surprise that the second wine at Angélus is delicious too. The high percentage of Cabernet Franc gives the wine perfume and lift, complementing its polished tannins and fresh, well balanced finish.
