2015 5ème Cru Classé Margaux

Colour Red
Origin France, Bordeaux
Sub-district Haut Médoc
Village Margaux
Classification 5ème Cru Classé

70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot. Quite a big broad slap of ripe fruit on the entry, stays wide across the palate, keeping a certain freshness in the dryness. Not the last word in energy or directedness, but pretty delicious. Rating: 90-91 L&S (Apr 2016)

Quite a lot of cocoa powder on the nose of this, and that really adds something to the rich fruit and suave tannins that give this intensity. If the finish were a little brighter this would rate even more highly. Rating: 92 James Suckling, (Feb 2018)

Sandalwood, rooibos tea and warm raspberry aromas lead off, with silky and refined waves of cassis, blackberry preserves and black currant paste. Drinking range: 2022 - 2035 Rating: 93 James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator (Jan 2018)

Mid purplish crimson. Very well-married elements on the nose already. Sweet, very polished palate entry. Perhaps very slightly too sweet for refreshment value? But a well-made wine without excesses. Quite forward. Drinking range: 2022 - 2035 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - (Nov 2017)
