From the scenic shores of Lake Garda in the Veneto comes this delicious Lugana. Made from Trebbiano di Lugana, aka Verdicchio, this wine has a delicately floral nose which belies its complex palate. There is a real weight here, unctuous almost, but balanced and with pinpoint acidity. Our suggestion would be to pour a nice big glass with some barbequed fish and enjoy. L&S (May 2016)

From 100% Trebbiano, this is lush with ripe apple and candied fruit flavours. Full-bodied but backed by a pristine acidity and lots of weight, tension and energy. I think this is the best value wine on the market at the moment, so snap it up fast! Rating: 92 Christelle Guibert, Decanter (Mar 2017)

Very inviting nose of fresh pear, white flowers and dill-like leafy herbs, the palate is soft and round, a touch of sweetness adding to the sense of fullness and juiciness, but there's gently penetrating acidity to keep it upright and flowing with river fish or mildly spicy prawns. Rating: 88 www.thewinegang.com (Mar 2017)

Big and fruity with lots of straightforward appeal. Good balance and grip. Not a silly price. A rather flattering sweet finish, but very appetising overall. Drinking range: 2016 - 2018 Rating: 16 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Sep 2016)

La Feliciana

La Feliciana is a small winery south of Lake Garda, in the Commune of Pozzolengo, and remarkably peaceful, with gentle rolling hills and vineyards stretching off into the distance; the only thing that would make you wonder if it has always been this way is the massive stone tower built on a low hill a couple of miles away: It's the monument to the Battle of San Martino, fought by the Piemontese against half of the Austrian army while their French allies were fighting the other half at Solferino, a few miles away.
