VIÑA DIEZMO JT
2015 Joven Tinto Bodegas Casa Primicia
|Grapes||Graciano, Mazuelo, Tempranillo|
Another lovely perky, bright red. cherry-fruit flows seemlessly through this fab new rioja. So lifted and appetising - a seriously attractive style that sees just 4 months in wood, thus preserving the lovely upbeat fruit feel. Just so drinkable. Rating: 89 L&S (Nov 2016)
*Case Price: Mix any 12 bottles of wine or buy 6 bottles of Champagne, Spirits or Fortified (as a full pack) to get the 'case price' for each bottle.
Bodegas Casa Primicia
Julian Madrid, a local grape-grower founded the Casa Primicia winery more than 50 years ago, today his grandson is at the helm and the wines bear testament to the inherited understanding of this exceptional terroir in La Guardia - but also a clear comprehension of modern viticulture and today's very best practices. The results are clear in the top quality wines that are being made here. Huge personality and that extra shad of spring and fruit freshness so often lacking in wines from this region. We were delighted to discover them and tasting with Iker was a revelation. Super wines, well worthy of your attention from the JT - Joven Tinto - up to the Rioja Reserva named in honour of the estates founder, grandpa - Julian Madrid.
If you thought all Rioja was much the same - think again. From the big traditional mellow Ruconia Reserva with its long wood ageing, to the light bright and crisp elegance of Sandra Bravo's high altitude Sierra do Tolono, via the exuberant plumpness of the Joven Viña Diezmo and the restrained refreshment of the Artuke, this case encompasses so much of what is exciting and tasty about Rioja. Rioja - it may have been around for years, but it's bang up to date.
