Beautiful, very broad and velvet like spread across the palate. quickly the fine tannins build - this is serious stuff. a wonderful density and sweetly concentrated fruit core rolled in dusty, scraping minerality. Yes, intense and delicious. Seriously serious. 100% whole bunch - but here they prune and tidy the bunches - 'this is not as easy and romantic as it sounds and is certainly a labour of love' says Henri. L&S (Oct 2018)

The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet of vibrant dark cherries and black currant aromas, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is well balanced with sappy black cherries and blueberry fruit, the richness countered by the acidity to leave the finish pure and refreshing. There is a bit of new oak to be subsumed, but time should reveal a delicious Clos Vougeot. Drinking range: 2023 - 2043 Rating: 91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2022)
Vibrant youthful purple with significant density. Quite high acidity, lean and tight, and currently rather closed down by the oak regime which gives a toasty finish. Tasted: September 2021 Rating: 90 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy (Sept 2021)
(from a ~.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A brooding deeply pitched and softly spicy nose reflects plenty of earth and sauvage characters to the dark berry aromas that are trimmed in soft wood nuances. There is excellent size, weight and power to the muscular flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the imposingly structured and youthfully austere finish that is sneaky long. This is a big 2017 that is supported by chewy but not really rustic tannins that make clear that at least some patience is advisable.
