Beautiful, very broad and velvet like spread across the palate. quickly the fine tannins build - this is serious stuff. a wonderful density and sweetly concentrated fruit core rolled in dusty, scraping minerality. Yes, intense and delicious. Seriously serious. 100% whole bunch - but here they prune and tidy the bunches - 'this is not as easy and romantic as it sounds and is certainly a labour of love' says Henri. L&S (Oct 2018)

(from a ~.34 ha parcel in Grand Maupertuis). A brooding deeply pitched and softly spicy nose reflects plenty of earth and sauvage characters to the dark berry aromas that are trimmed in soft wood nuances. There is excellent size, weight and power to the muscular flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the imposingly structured and youthfully austere finish that is sneaky long. This is a big 2017 that is supported by chewy but not really rustic tannins that make clear that at least some patience is advisable. Drinking range: 2032 - Rating: 94 Allen Meadows, 2019)

From a parcel in Grand Maupertui, the 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru reveals lovely aromas of sweet dark berries, licorice and rich soil, framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with lots of extract and structuring tannins, underpinned by tangy acids. It's quite promising but will need some time. Rating: 91-93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate(Jan 2019)

The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit "Grand Maupertui", has a slightly static bouquet at the moment when I am seeking more animation and terroir expression. The palate is grippy and assertive on the entry with candied orange peel and Moroccan spice layering the black fruit, that spiciness really dominating the finish. It will require several years in bottle. Drinking range: 2024 - 2040 Rating: 89-91 Neal Martin, 2019)
