This has more edge and brood than the Nuits St Georges tasted just before it. A great, tightly-furled core of fruit, with a gently grip and a more bold texture. Firmer and less clearly fleshy, less soft feel - this is ripe and yet feels very serious too. It may be less pretty, less flirty and charming - but there is good oomph and a long finish with growing bite, pull and energy. Impressive, Will need a moment. The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru offers lucid red cherry, crushed strawberry and blood orange on the nose, coming across quite vibrant and almost Chambolle-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is not a deep or powerful wine and might need more grip, but I appreciate the balance and refinement on the finish. Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot
Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
