Heady and intense perfume on the nose. Yet this is quite packed-in for now. Quite tightly rolled. Muscular and bold but with gorgeous snippets of fruit popping out too. Peppy black juice and lots of softer brighter red elements. This needs time. Lots to love - but for now it is not totally harmonious, as Christophe points out - it finished its Malo a bit later than some, so just needs a moment. Very promising nonetheless! L&S (Nov 2019)

(from purchased grapes that Perrot has the right to intercede with certain aspects of the viticulture). In contrast to the exuberance of many of the wines, here the nose is all but mute and requires aggressive swirling to coax the timid aromas of softly spicy and decidedly cool aromas of red and black currant, humus-tinged earth and plenty of floral nuances. The racy, tight and almost painfully intense big-bodied and muscular flavors also exhibit an abundance of minerality that adds lift to the compact, linear and subtly persistent finish. This is presently a compact block and a wine that is likely to require at least a decade to become approachable and reward 20+ years. Drinking range: 2038 - Rating: 93-95 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2020)

The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru has a regal, complex and quite compelling bouquet of layers of black fruit laced with black truffle, woodland and light leafy aromas. There is superb intensity here. The medium-bodied palate delivers fine-grained tannins. Very precise and elegant, with tangible mineralité and great tension on the finish. This is a deftly produced, very impressive Chambertin that will give three, maybe four decades of drinking pleasure. Drinking range: 2022 - 2055 Rating: 95-97 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2020)

Discreet, compact, exceptional tight, delicate and fine layering, tense and taut and lingering. Drinking range: 2028 - 2038 Rating: 99 Sarah Marsh MW, The Burgundy Briefing (Nov 2019)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
