Tasted after the Nuits this is more retrained and sows brighter more perky fruit. Peppy red berries. An almost cranberry-infused lift. Energy is scintillating and bouncy. The tension comes from the minerality as well as this crisper red edged fruit. Smart and lithe. L&S (Nov 2019)

Moderate reduction dominates the nose today though there is very good verve to the nicely dense and textured medium weight flavors that exhibit focused power on the dusty and youthfully austere if slightly awkward finish due to mildly grippy tannins. I suspect that this will round out successfully once this has a few years of bottle age. Drinking range: 2030 - Rating: 90-92 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2020)

Cask sample. Scented. Quite crunchy in terms of texture and pretty ambitious but a nice blend of ripeness and freshness. Drinking range: 2028 - 2043 Rating: 17.5 Jancis Robinson OBE MW - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2020)

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a crisp, classically styled, crushed rock and slightly chalky bouquet, the tightly coiled red and black fruit overshadowed by that stony facade. The palate conveys a lot of nascent energy, offering bright red berries laced with blood orange and brown spices, and leading to a precise and very persistent finish. Superb. Drinking range: 2022 - 2042 Rating: 92-94 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jan 2020)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
