This really showcases the qualities of the 2018 vintage. Ripe and intense with lovely shape and depth, plenty of rich citrus, gooseberry fruit, then that tell tale gun flint, almost touch chalky intensity from the soil. Good acid lift that gives balance to ripe fruit on the palate, this is really lovely to drink. L&S (Jun 2019)

Our Family has been winegrowers in Pouilly sur Loire for six generations. Our vineyard spreads over all the different types of local soils of Pouilly sur Loire : kimmeridgian Marls (45%), Limestone (40%) and Flint (15%). The climatic conditions from middle of July allowed harvesting high quality grapes. The harvest began on September 08th, 2018. The sanitary state of the grapes was excellent and we have done a light settling (about 5% of the juice). The characteristic of this vintage is the homogeneity of the grapes maturity and a very nice expression of the Sauvignon grape variety. The richness in sugar of the juice and the good acidity level are the sign of a well-balanced wine. The alcoholic fermentation lasted on average twenty days. The first tastings reveal aromas of citrus fruits (lemon, rose grapefruit), exotic fruits (pineapple, mango), and mineral aromas (“flint” taste) typical of the appellation. The palate is rounded with exotic and mineral notes, as well as a long-lasting taste (about twelve caudalies).Winemaker's notes (Aug 2019)

Domaine Hervé Séguin

A 17 hectare family property just half a mile east of Pouilly-sur-Loire. Philippe, part of the the third generation to work the estate is quietly spoken but has a firm hand on how he wants to do things. Traditional viticulture reigns here and fuss-free vinification. After débourbage a long cool fermentation (4 weeks at 17C) is followed by a short period on the lees with three batonnages to fill out the palate. The wine, which is bottled in the March after the harvest, has super fruit character (citrus notes, pink grapefruit and pineapple) and also the typical “gun flint” flavour you'd hope to find here - which goes remarkably well with seafood, fish with butter sauce, and goat's cheese.
