Predominately from 25 year old vines, the fruit for this wine was hand harvested, lightly whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented. The wine was then aged for 11 months in a 4,500L French oak cuve and a concrete egg tank. Full malolactic fermentation occurred. In pursuit of the highest quality, we have not fined or filtered this wine. As a result a harmless residue may remain.Bright lemon in colour, the bouquet offers aromas of almond blossom and stone fruit mingled with a touch of struck match. On the palate the wine is bright and focused, opening up to layers of white peach and nectarine, over flavours of almond butter, minerals and spice. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a classic and elegant chardonnay, showing great poise, purity of fruit and a waxy finish. Winemaker's notes (Feb 2021)

Two Rivers of Marlborough
David Clouston is originally from Marlborough, and after 22 vintages abroad from Oregon to Chile, Corsica to Alsace, he returned home and set about exploring the valleys and diverse terroirs of Marlborough. The main production is the Sauvignon made from fruit from both the Awatere and Wairau river valleys, whence the 'Two Rivers of Marlborough' name, but his hillside Pinot Noir is showing great potential.
