Vineyard Les Murgers des Cras

20% Murgers, 20% Cras and 60% Richemone - all of which are 1er Crus on the northern, Vosne side of the appellation. Lots of weight and richness, a mouthfilling dark fruit richness with fine tannins giving textural density - just a twist of tightening tannin on the finish to let you know it's Nuits Saint Georges, but otherwise very Vosne in shape. Drinking range: 2024 - 2034 L&S (Oct 2020)

(this cuvée is composed from 20% Les Murgers, 20% Aux Cras and 60% Richemone). A cool, pure and elegant nose exhibits aromas of black cherry, poached plum and a variety of spice elements that are trimmed in wisps of wood and warm earth. The sleek, intense and very punchy medium weight flavors flash evident minerality on the focused and solidly powerful finish that is also shaped by firm by fine-grained tannins. This is robust and serious but not rustic and should age accordingly. Worth checking out. Drinking range: 2029 - Rating: 91-93 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com (Jan 2021)

The most reserved of Perrot-Minot's communal appellations is the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers des Cras, a blend of declassified premiers crus. Unwinding in the glass with notions of cassis, orange rind, peonies and smoky berry fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and tightly wound, with lively acids and powdery tannins. Rating: 90 - 92+ William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

The blend is made up of 20% each of Aux Murgers and Aux Cras with the balance coming from the non-centenarian vines in La Richemone. Rich, dense purple, the nose is exceptionally intense, the faintest thread of what might be volatility, but is actually the whole bunches speaking. Nicely on the cusp of red and black fruit, tending towards the latter, with a crisp punchy crystalline finish. This is a wonderful wine in its own right, even though it will doubtless be eclipsed when we come to taste the old vines of La Richemone on their own. Tasted: November 2020 5/5 stars Rating: 94-96 Jasper Morris - Inside Burgundy  (Jan 2021)

Domaine Christophe Perrot-Minot

Christophe Perrot-Minot is now the fourth generation of his family producing wine on the estate after his great grandfather Amédée Merme devoted himself to the management and production of wine over 130 years ago. The estate has gone from strength to strength – always keeping the highest standards. Integrated viticulture has been practiced for many years now which has been adapted especially for the terroir. No herbicide or chemical fertilizer is used, instead, Christophe prefers to “stand back and listen to this terroir, only intervening when necessary or when the weather requires it, never systematically.” This is one of the star domaines of the whole of Burgundy.
