This is Ridge’s 54th consecutive vintage of Geyserville. The grapes are grown in three adjoining vineyards on a single soil type, deposited by an ancient washout of the Russian River that carried river stone and gravel. It is approximately one-and-a-quarter miles long and a half-mile wide. Total rainfall was plentiful and summer was mild, resulting in excellent quality and quantity when the grapes were hand-harvested between 16 September and 8 October. The grapes were crushed and fermentation proceeded with natural yeast. After six days of daily pump-overs, the must was pressed off. The wine was aged for 12 months in air-dried American oak barrels, with 22% new wood. L&S (Feb 2021)

Full bottle 1,360 g. Field blend of Zinfandel with Carignane, Petite Sirah and Mourvèdre. Mid garnet. Aromatic, lifted, just this side of porty. Sweet and jewelly. Ridge Vineyards
Although Ridge Vineyards began in the 1960s, wine has been produced at the site under the name 'Monte Bello Winery' since 1885 when Osea Perrone bought 180 acres of land near the top of Monte Bello. The winery passed through a couple of owners until 1960 when it was bought by four Stanford Research Institute engineers, David Bennion, Charles Rosen, Hewitt Crane, and Howard Zeidler, who produced its first commercial vintage in 1962. Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel account for the largest percentage of the wine produced at Ridge, and it is famous primarily for its reds.
