Deeply inviting nose is almost pure 'Ribena' fruit. This soft and delicately framed, fruit-led hit follows to the palate. Fruit expression certainly more clear following the family's decision to ferment in concrete and then age 30% in amphorae, with only 30% getting the full New Oak treatment. Nicely ripe but no heaviness this is loaded with charm and plush florality. Red and dark berries, warm from the sunshine. Good flow, good feel and density too - but this is not overly complicated. A charming sweet vein at its core runs right to the end, This seems almost ready to drink, but in fact there's enough stuffing to see it lasting well for 10 to 15 years - a very joyful glass, there is good volume too. Merlot 42%, Cabernet Sauvignon 46% and Petit Verdot 12%. L&S (May 2021)

This has aromas of dried spices, blackberries, cherries, moss, licorice and bark. Savory and harmonious, with a medium body and firm tannins. Excellent balance. Drink from 2025. Rating: 92 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (May 2023)

The 2020 Angludet is packed with dark fruit, chocolate, herbs and sweet French oak. Élevage has softened some of the burlier contours that were present en primeur. This forward, juicy Margaux looks like a near and mid-term proposition. Drinking range: 2023 - 2028 Rating: 89 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Feb 2023)

The 2020 Château Angludet is the product of a crop that suffered frost damage earlier in the season with a reduced percentage of Merlot. It has a lovely nose, maybe not quite as "brisk" as I described out of barrel, yet harmonious with those appealing black fruit laced with iris flower and violet. The palate is medium-bodied, the 30% aging in amphora imparting the spiciness, the liberal dose of black pepper towards the still gritty finish. Lovely length, lovely Margaux, lovely d'Angludet. Drinking range: 2025 - 2040 Rating: 91 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Feb 2023)

Château Angludet

The wine estate of Château Angludet belongs to the Sichel family, wine merchants in Bordeaux for six generations. Situated in the Médoc on gravel deposits from the Garonne, the estate produces excellent wines under the Margaux appellation, which are often put on a par with a Grands Crus Classés in terms of quality.
