(a rarely seen 1er). Pungent aromas consist mostly of wood and reduction so be sure to decant this if you’re going to try a bottle young. The succulent, round and almost painfully intense medium weight flavors brim with minerality on the markedly dry but not really austere finale that is sneaky long. Express Delivery options also available.From a site characterized by shallow, fossil-rich soils and which is shaded from the evening sun by a small parcel of woodland, the 2020 Montagny 1er Cru Montcuchot exhibits aromas of citrus zest, freshly baked bread, pear and dried white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with excellent concentration, chalky structure and a saline finish, it's an impressive effort. Domaine Maxime Cottenceau
A brand new Domaine, as young Maxime Cottenceau sets out on his solo career, having worked extensively with Vincent Dureuil.
The family have always been members of the Buxy co-op, but Maxime has seen what can be done and is clearly ambitious - even his first set of wines in 2018 were impressive, but with the 2019s he has really hit his stride. Volumes are tiny for now, but this is a domaine that will grow rapidly with more vines coming on stream each year, It has a very strong future.
Maxime has learned from Vincent, making wines with 'noble reduction' and these are intended to be long-term wines - if drinking young, he recommends opening a little ahead of time, or even a quick decant.
