20-30% Pinot Blanc in the vineyard. Long fermentation, so still half-made when we tasted. Good volume and body, it's something a little different, but very likeable. Not very deep soils - it's on pebbles. Drinking range: 2024 - 2028 L&S (Oct 2022)

The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Clos de Village Blanc comes from vines on limestone soil that includes around 25% Pinot Blanc. Conference pear and white peach on the nose unfurl nicely with each swirl. The palate is well balanced with a taut line of acidity, fresh and vibrant, Japanese yuzu mixed with orange zest and a long vibrant finish, this will do very nicely. About 25% pinot blanc in the blend. Normal vinification, and still in barrel. Clear pale yellow. A very pretty nose, light on its feet, with a good supplement from the oak, and a little fresh waxiness. Fresh plums with a citrus touch on the palate, and good length. The lack of the word 'domaine' in the name signals that this is a négociant wine from Thibault Liger-Belair. On the whole Thibault buys grapes having tended the vines with his own team, so that the wines are domaine wines in all but name.
