Always so fresh and bright with nectarine, lime and almond blossom aromas and flavours. Persistent with lovely fresh fruit weight in the mouth, citrus and stone fruit, just a touch of fresh almond. The acidity lifts the wine and creates a mouthwatering delight. L&S (Jun 2022)

The eternal quest for affordable, exciting, uniquely delicious, GPS-accurate white wines continues. There used to be a vast selection of wines on our shelves in the key £10-£15-mark, but recent non-sensical duty increases, sky-rocketing transport costs, increased profit margin requirements, and multiple other unavoidable annoyances have pushed thousands of artisan wines out of this bracket and up to the dreaded twenty quid barrier. So while epic wines in this price bracket are diminishing as time passes, it doesn’t mean I have given up hope. I anticipate the new vintage of my featured wine hitting the shelves this autumn, but before it does, please avail yourself of the opportunity to purchase this spectacular, organic, dreamy white wine from one of the most famous regions in Tuscany. I would not blink at paying north of twenty smackers for this wine, but you can pick it up for a mere £12.95 by the case. With a stunning billowy texture, a pear, apple and quince-tinged palate and a sultry, smooth finish, this wine, named after murmuring nuns (it used to be a convent), is nothing short of epic. Elegant whites of this calibre need time to express their full array of flavours, and Suavis is at its peak. This wine might be the finest summer treat I have unearthed in years.Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Aug 2023)

Mormoraia

Alessandro Passoni is the second generation here to run this beautiful estate since his father bought the old convent back in 1980 and started to regenerate the vineyards. The name comes from the property's religious history as a convent, with the murmur of the nuns as they recited their prayers that once emanated from the walls like a 'Mormoraia'.

Pino Passoni and his wife Franca passed over the reins to their children in 2012 and the farm has been worked organically since 2013. This is an estate on the move with energy and ever better practices in the vineyards and clever gentle work in the cellar. The results are great and these wines get better and better!
