I wrote up the 2009 vintage of this wine in 2010 in my MoneyWeek column when L&S first found this estate, and I have followed it closely ever since. Made from a mesmerising blend of Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, this vintage is up there with the very best, yet it costs a fraction of some wines from this part of the world. I prefer the unoaked Zuani, and I tend to drink them young, too, so, as promised above – this wine is ready to go now! Hauntingly perfumed, silky and then keenly dry, this is a hugely expressive wine from the top drawer. Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (Jul 2022)

Yellow plum, mirabelle, citrus skins, floral and delicately spicy. In the mouth the wine is very together, lovely stone fruit, yellow plum fruit, spicy and floral and just a touch of gentle bitterness and a delicate creaminess.L&S (Jan 2023)

It is so rare to find a wine with these four grapes blended together as one. For this field blend each of the varieties - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Friulano are fermented separately and then blended together. This brings out the best elements of each of them in the finished wine. The acidity from the Sauvignon, the floral notes from the Friulano, the citrus from the Chardonnay and the subtle pear from the Pinot Grigio, round off this super wine. Complex yet bright. Brings to mind summer lunches with an Italian vista and crisp white table cloths.L&S (Jun 2022)

Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Friulano combine to deliver scents of lemon balm, citrus zest and golden plum. The palate is dry, fruity, crisp and smooth, brimming with notes of fleshy stone fruit and pear, peach skin, custard apple and a touch of spice. Delicious with a variety of light starters, fish and white meat dishes, such as chicken breast in a creamy mushroom sauce.Robin Goldsmith, www.thewritetaste.co.uk (Apr 2023)

Zuani

Just over 12 years ago Patrizia Felluga left the family business in order to buy her own property in the heart of the Collio and set about her ambition of making a 'terroir' based wine. Working now with her two children, Antonio and Caterina - she is creating beautiful, crystaline wines with great character. Her seven hectares are planted with fifteen to forty year old Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon vines, from which she produces just two wines, each the same blend, one of which is oaked. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless steel and blended to make wines which are wonderfully expressive of the vineyard.
