Adrien describes the Clos as 'normally the more expressive of the Grands Crus'. It has that rather glamourous elegance of the effortlessly graceful, flashes of diamond against a texture of dark velvet, but for all that it's only going to show a glimpse of a well-turned ankle for now. Extremely silky, citrussy, sappy and long. Drinking range: 2026 - 2045 L&S (Oct 2025)

The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru was tasted over lunch to allow it time to open. As always, temperature is crucial. There was a marked difference just 0.5°C cooler than when this was first served. It is up there alongside the 2022. Shimmering scents of freshly cut apple commingle with very subtle lanolin and peach skin aromas. This has the depth that you seek in a Les Clos, which translates to the palate that is taut and tensile, yet exerts its weight and grip. Tender and long on the finish, I can see this cruising along nicely for a couple of decades. Drinking range: 2027 - 2047 Rating: 93 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (Jun 2025)

Who knew that there was a top domaine in Chablis with a wide range Grands Crus, without a UK importer in 2025? Well thank you Neal Martin for this one - what a great discovery!
Clearly Raoul and his son Alain (who I am sure I visited in another, pre-L&S life, in about 1985 or 1986) have put this domaine on a fantastic footing. Judging by the 1992 Montmains which I drank with Alain's son Adrien, Alain himself was no slouch at winemaking either. But it seems that the arrival of Adrien in 2017 has added a whole new level of precision and intent.
What is truly remarkable is the way that many of the wines are treated individually for their own specificity - the Chablis is cold fermented and aged in tank, the Chablis Vieilles Vignes is aged 12 months in barrel, The Montmains is vinified and aged in concrete eggs, the Lys is aged up to 24 months in tank, the Vaudésir aged in barrel, and then the Vaudésir Reserve is aged longer yet in tank.
Our first tasting here was a revelation, and we very much look forward working with Adrien over the long term.

Again ripe and rich. There's a sweetness here, and a lift despite the fruit being so blackly concentrated and powerful. Finish has tiny sensation of the whole bunch fermentation, but this carries and lifts the fruit.
