The 2023 Ridge Three Valleys Zinfandel is a highly praised Sonoma County red blend—comprising 71% Zinfandel alongside Carignane, Petite Sirah, Mataro, and Alicante Bouschet. Aged for over a year in American oak, this structured wine opens with vibrant aromas of ripe raspberry, strawberry jam, and baking spices. The medium-to-full-bodied palate delivers smooth tannins and bright acidity layered with blackberry, plum, and bramble fruit. It concludes with a complex, balanced finish marked by cocoa, black tea, and Garrigue herbs, making it excellent to drink now or cellar for the next five years. L&S (May 2026)

Although Ridge Vineyards began in the 1960s, wine has been produced at the site under the name 'Monte Bello Winery' since 1885 when Osea Perrone bought 180 acres of land near the top of Monte Bello. The winery passed through a couple of owners until 1960 when it was bought by four Stanford Research Institute engineers, David Bennion, Charles Rosen, Hewitt Crane, and Howard Zeidler, who produced its first commercial vintage in 1962. Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel account for the largest percentage of the wine produced at Ridge, and it is famous primarily for its reds.
