Very good poise, tension and depth, with a light peppery, mineral and citrusy touch to the fruit. Good fruit here, with medium to full body and elastic, chalky tannins. There is something quite pure and transparent in the middle. So elegant, al-dente and long. An excellent wine from this difficult vintage. 70% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon. Love the deep rich ruby colour here, inky and saline expression that has a ton of texture and interest. The sappy fruits of the year are here balanced and laced with depth and character. The 2024 Bellefont-Belcier has a slightly higher-toned bouquet than its peers, with black cherry, blueberry and touches of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with quite stocky tannins on the entry that render this Saint-Émilion a bit dry and hard, especially toward the end. Maybe this will mellow during its barrel maturation? Plenty of blue and black earthy fruit aromas. Hints of spice on top. Juicy and fresh in the mouth with well managed tannins in keeping with the fruit weight. Quite long finish with good poise.
