I love the perfume, which divides neatly between an intricate, teasing limestone suspension and stunningly complex red and purple florals! Acidity and fine minerality replace noticeable tannins, and these sensations are both mouth-watering and regal. These anti-fruit notes provide a platform on which the fruit lounges resplendent, and the resulting balance is sensational. I feel the transformation at Berliquet is all but complete. A vintage like 2024 and its challenges bring all facets of this wine into high definition. While 2017-2019 have been nicknamed ‘the discovery years’ by the team, from 2020 onwards, this wine has been gaining definition and detail, while this is not the richest or the most luxurious vintage, from 2023 onwards, when the new winery was completed, there is a definite augmentation in exoticism and flair. The use of amphorae brings a sense of tension to the beautiful fruit, and with black and purple fruit notes waltzing on the palate, combined with magical, slender juiciness, this Berliquet is a future classic and another terrific milestone for this famous Château. 18.5+/20 Rating: 18.5+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (May 2025)

The 2024 Berliquet was picked from 20 September to 3 October at 43 hl/ha and aged in 37% new oak, 22% amphoras. This has a much more oyster-tinged, black olive-scented bouquet that distinguishes it from the 2024 Canon. It's quite intense in style. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, although I find them not as chiseled as the Canon's. It has good weight and substance on the finish in the context of the season, but this will require two or three years in bottle and should then drink well for fifteen to twenty more. Drinking range: 2029 - 2048 Rating: 90-92 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (May 2025)
A fresh and vivid wine with sliced lemons, lemongrass, pine needles and some red cherries. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a tangy finish. Attractive energy to this. Nice depth. 60% merlot, 39% cabernet franc and 1% mablec. Rating: 92-93 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Apr 2025)
60 M 39 CF 1 Malbec 13.5% Some oak aromas apparent with cedar and sweet spices on top of rich earthy black and red fruit scents. Fresh, juicy acidity and lovely black plum and cerise characters. This has the right amount of lithe tannins and good freshness. A lovely performance from the vintage, and always quite the find, being somewhere between its stablemates Croix de Canon and Canon itself in style and accomplishment.
