69 Cabernet Sauvignon, 24 Merlot, 5 Petit Verdot, 2 Cabernet Franc: 50% new oak: 12.9% alc: 27 hl/ha: 3.60 pH: 65 IPT It’s impressive how de Pez has transformed over the last three or four vintages. Gone is the rawness and rusticity; we are now welcoming in an era of polish and poise. That said, 2024 de Pez might well be a gentleman, but he can handle himself! With a deeper and wilder mid-palate than expected, this is a welterweight, not light or heavy wine, with impressive attack and among the suave tones, there is plenty of action-packed tension in the form of bright acidity and fine-grained tannins. It is clear Saint-Estèphe has enjoyed a more successful vintage than many communes in 2024, and this is another wine that has come up trumps. Rating: 17+ Matthew Jukes www.matthewjukes.com (May 2025)

Precise, with balance and depth of flavour, white pepper spice laced through fleshy red and blue fruits on the opening, and there are floral aromatics. All in all, this starts out confidently, but the acidity of the vintage adds more rusticity to the tannins on the close of play than in the recent exceptional vintages at de Pez. Skilful winemaking, but impacted by the vintage. 27hl/h yield. Tasted twice, new cellar since 2021. 3.6 pH. 50% new oak. Drinking range: 2027 - 2035 Rating: 87 Jane Anson, www.janeanson.com (May 2025)
Quite fresh, showing lots of red cherries and berries with fine spices and minerals. Incisive on the palate, this has medium body and fine-grained tannins. Firm and structured but poised and pretty long. Good minerality. 69% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 5% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc. Rating: 92-93 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Apr 2025)
69 M 24 CS 15 PV 2 CF 13% Spices and cedar aromas with some smoke and graphite. Juicy redcurrant and cassis acidity and mid-weight tannin extraction which works well. A good example of what can be achieved, and should be providing lovely drinking relatively soon after release Rating: 90 Rod Smith MW, www.timatkin.com (Apr 2025)
