The 2024 Feytit-Clinet is a very good wine in a challenging harvest marked by hail, mildew, coulure and millerandage. Dark and layered, with very good textural presence, the 2024 possesses notable depth. Black-toned fruit, leather, spice, gravel, incense and licorice convey an impression of somber gravitas. Some saignée in vinification as well as bâtonnage helped build attractive texture. As has been the case for some years now, the tannins are quite a bit less imposing here than they were in the past. Élevage, 65% new oak and 35% once-used barrels, will play a critical in determining the final result. Harvest started on September 18 for the Merlots and wrapped up on the 28th. Drinking range: 2030 - 2044 Rating: 91-94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2025)

Grilled oak, well textured damson and cherry pit, shows depth through the mid palate, enjoyable cloves and white pepper, even a touch of orange peel. Consultant Rolland Laboratory. 33hl/ha. Harvest 18 to 28 September. 65% new oak, JM Chasseuil winemaker and owner. Drinking range: 2026 - 2032 Rating: 92 Jane Anson, www.janeanson.com (May 2025)
The 2024 Feytit-Clinet has quite an expressive bouquet with lifted blackberry, black olive and light smoky scents that unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins. Strangely, the oak feels a bit too present. Perhaps this is a stage it is going through on the barrel that it was taken from? I will have to revisit this because it is one of my favorite Pomerols. Rating: 88-90 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (May 2025)
88 M 12 CF Warm and slightly spicy oak aromas with dark blue berried fruit and some iodine. Power packed palate with dense juicy fruit, serious but well managed tannin structure and good length, Some creaminess already on the palate and good vintage-defying depth. A very commendable effort for the vintage. Rating: 92 Rod Smith MW, www.timatkin.com (Apr 2025)
Château Feytit Clinet
Jérémy Chasseuil took this property in hand in 2000, and the wines have got better with every passing vintage, truly showing the potential of this tiny 6.5 hectare property, set right in the heart of Pomerol (close to Clinet, Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol). It's on gravelly-sandy and clay soils and planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with vines that average over 30 years old. Despite the name, and the statement "mis en bouteille au chateau" on the label, there is no château, just a small well-equipped chai.
The grapes are hand-picked before fermentation in concrete and steel vats, where they spend four or five weeks before the wine is run off for the malolactic fermentation in barrel. The wine is aged for around 18 months is up to 80% new oak barrels.
