Attractive freshness and medium density with creamy texture, red-cherry character and a sliced-orange undertone. Medium-bodied, this has a crisp finish and some salt too. A blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Rating: 91-92 James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com (Apr 2025)
80 M 20 CF 13.3% Plenty of plum and black raspberry fruit aromas with some hoisin and peppercorn. Plum juiciness in the mouth with sinewy tannins and very fresh floral acidity. This somewhat lighter style really suits the Vaulthier properties and the fruitiness and mid-weight alcohol is to their advantage. Very lovely fresh long finish. Rating: 91 Rod Smith MW, www.timatkin.com (Apr 2025)
The 2024 Moulin Saint-Georges is all charm. Soft, plummy and forward, the 2024 offers up an attractive mix of blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, menthol and violet. There's a touch of sweet oak from the 100% new barrels, but the 2024 has enough depth to handle it. Pliant contours wrap it all together in style. This is another very pretty wine for the year. Drinking range: 2026 - 2034 Rating: 89-91 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2025)
Château Moulin Saint Georges
Owned by Alain Vauthier, Château Moulin Saint Georges is situated in Saint-Emilion and covers 7 hectares. The vineyards are well sited on the south-west facing 'Pavie' slope. The average age of the vines on this slope is 26 years old, and they are planted at a density of 6500 vines/hectare. Vauthier believes that the quality of his wine is a direct result of how well the vines are tended to, therefore yields are kept extremely low in order to concentrate the flavour, and all grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the best grapes are used in production.
