The 2025 Doisy-Védrines is an infant. Orchard fruit, citrus and floral notes are nicely lifted. This shows notable power and textural resonance. I imagine the 2025 will drink well with a few years in bottle, by which time some of the more incisive contours will have softened. That said, this is a Barsac that shows exceptionally well with age. Drinking range: 2035 - 2065 Rating: 92-94 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Apr 2026)

The 2025 Doisy-Védrines was picked between September 17 and October 13 over 11 days and three tries. It does not have the purity and intensity of the Doisy-Daëne, well defined, but it just needs a little more expression at this stage. The palate is bright and viscous on the entry, a little fatter than Daëne as usual, with commendable length on the finish. It is just seeking a bit more complexity at the moment; indeed, a second bottle delivers a little more tension. 140 g/l residual sugar. Drinking range: 2030 - 2055 Rating: 92-94 Neal Martin, www.vinous.com (May 2026)

Bitter orange marmalade character, with attractive studs of bitter fennel that help balance out the succulence of the exotic fruit character. Yield 10hl/ha. Drinking range: 2026 - 2030 Rating: 92 Jane Anson, www.janeanson.com (May 2026)

Château Doisy Védrines

Barsac Deuxième cru 1855 As one might expect, there was originally one Doisy estate. Sometime in the earlier 19th Century, it was divided into three parts - two smaller parts were sold to the Dubroca brothers and Jean-Jacques Emmanuel Daëne becoming the rarely encountered Château Doisy-Dubroca and Château Doisy-Daëne respectively, whilst the larger proportion became Château Doisy-Védrines. In 1851, it was purchased by the Boireau family who's descendents the, Castéja family, own Doisy-Védrines to this day. Around 30ha of vineyard are planted with 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation is in stainless-steel before and 18 month aging period in oak, of which 70% is new. Doisy-Védrines is a richer rounder style than Doisy-Daëne. Interestingly, although entitled to the Barsac appellation, the wines are always labelled as Sauternes.
