The 2025 keeps up the standard from Maria and the family at Bodegas Monfil. Rich with exuberant blueberry, cranberry and damson fruit. Supple and fresh in the mouth with succulent berry fruitiness and a delicate bite of tannin framing the palate. Bright, appetising and easy going with real interest. L&S (May 2026)

Bodegas y Viñedos Monfil

This family run Bodega has been growing grapes in the Campo de Cariñena since 1945, but only bottling their own wines since 2004 when the three siblings Victor, Maria and Ana took the reins. With beautiful, very old vineyard holdings the fruit they grow is incredible on their gnarly old bush vines. Great quality wine being made here offering stunning value. The Cariñena DO was created in 1932, making it one of the oldest protected growing regions of Europe, at the same time as being the largest vineyard area in the northern region of Aragón.

  • CUVÉE ROSÉ Spumante Rosato Brut, Il Follo: A brilliant pink sparkling blend from the Veneto. Zippy and clean with a lovely wild strawberry edge, making it the ultimate weekend aperitivo.

  • 2024 PGI Arcadia Rosé, Moropoulos: A highly aromatic Greek rosé from the Peloponnese. Vibrant and gently textured, loaded with crunchy cherry and a savoury, gastronomic finish.

  • FRANCIACORTA Brut, Corteaura: A strict traditional-method sparkling wine from Lombardy[cite: 14]. A lithe, highly complex alternative to Champagne with a chalky, mouth-watering finish.

  • 2023 CROZES HERMITAGE Rouge, Domaine du Chêne Vert: A vibrant, red-fruited Syrah from the Northern Rhône. Lush, generous, and perfectly balanced with a crushed rock minerality.

  • 2024 Macabeo Écologico, Bodegaverde de San Valero: Grown at serious altitude in the Aragonese desert. Overflowing with brilliant peach and quince flavours coupled with a zesty lemon backbone that keeps it delightfully fresh.

  • 2025 NEGROAMARO Salento, Cantine de Falco: A supple, lithe Puglian red packed with black cherry and perfumed violets. Exceptionally smooth and entirely unpretentious.

  • 2023 NERO D AVOLA Rosso, Le Casematte: Grown at 500 meters altitude overlooking the sea. Bypasses the heavy stereotype of Sicilian reds entirely, offering sleek woodland fruit and a distinct saline lift.

  • 2024 SUAVIS Vernaccia Di San Gimignano, Mormoraia: Exceedingly fresh and bright. Nectarine and lime blossom layered over an appetizing, sapid mineral finish drawn from ancient marine soils.
