Grande Réserve Brut

Grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier

A "multi-vintage" rather than a non-vintage, this finely balanced cuvée is always a lovely combination of development and freshness. Fantastic value when compared to the majority of Grandes Marques. L&S (Mar 2005)

The NV Brut Grand Réserve (45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Meunier) is a fine introduction to the house style. Scents of pear, dried flowers, mint, lemon peel and spice open first. This vibrant, mid-weight Champagne is a charmer. Moreover, it does not have the bracing intensity that can make some of the top bottlings hard to appreciate for those who aren't intimately familiar with the Gosset style. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged in 2019. Drinking range: 2023 - 2031 Rating: 90 Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com (Nov 2023)

45% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Meunier. Currently based on the 2016 vintage. No malolactic fermentation, as with all the Gosset cuvées. There is an uplift in aromatic intensity over the Extra Brut here, probably coming from some reserve wine and a more developed, involved style. Plum and roast apple nose, quite explosive freshness and acidity on the palate with some hard apricot fruit. Again this is not creamy, soft Champagne – it's one for fans of something a little edgier. Tom Hewson Rating: 88 Tim Atkin MW, www.timatkin.com (Dec 2022)

I don’t know whether either producer would thank me for saying this but I always think that if you like the Bollinger style, you’ll fall for the deep, dry, biscuity richness and rapier acidity of Gosset Grande Réserve. Joanna Simon, www.joannasimon.com (Dec 2019)

Champagne Gosset

Founded in 1584, Gosset is the oldest sparkling wine house in Champagne. Still fiercely independent the quality of their wines is still among the very best of the Grandes Marques and very much among our favourites. Rich and robust champagnes, made using a large percentage of older reserve wines, the top wines having been partially fermented in oak barrels.
