This tastes of sweet dried fruits with a hint of vanilla Esquire Magazine (Mar 2016)
True tawny colour. If I say musty, you may think this is corked, but it is not – it just has a nice smell of dusty cupboards with a slightly nutty quality. On the palate, there's lovely sweet plum fruit, rounded and generous and no longer showing its fiery finish. Long and gentle. Drinking range: 2015 - 2017 Rating: 17/20 Julia Harding MW, www.JancisRobinson.com (Oct 2015)
Sandeman is a regular Decanter World Wine Awards Gold- and Trophy- winner for its supremely refined tawnies. This has lovely lifted aromas and flavours of chocolate-covered sultanas and orange peel. Seductive and creamy with perfect poise for its age. Drinking range: 2014 - 2014 Rating: 96-96 Decanter Magazine (Oct 2014)
The House of Sandeman is pleased to inform that its Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 Years Old has been awarded the International Trophy for Port Wine at this year’s edition of the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition, in the United Kingdom. This coveted Trophy – that each year singles out only one extraordinary wine – is the most recent in a long series of distinctions that systematically celebrate Sandeman Aged Tawnies as the best in their category worldwide, recognising their unique style that masterfully combines vibrancy with the elegance of age. The House of Sandeman has built a magnificent cellar of old Porto wines since early 1800′s and this Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 Years Old is a very fine example of the brand’s century- old expertise in the careful ageing and blending of Tawny Portos. Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 Years Old gold amber colour combines with intense aromas of honey and spices, underscored with deep flavours of dried apricots, hazelnuts and vanilla, creating a rich yet elegant combination that is a lively tribute to a history of elegant complexity. Winemaker's notes (Oct 2014)
Scotsman George Sandeman set up business in Tom's Coffee House in London in 1790, trading in Ports and Sherries. An agency in Cadiz soon followed, and then a Port Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia and, by the beginning of the 20th Century, Sandeman Ports and Sherries were to be found all across the world. Seven generations down the line, another George Sandeman can be found at the helm of the House of Sandeman, although the family relinquished ownership in 1980. Sandeman are now owned by Sogrape. Sandeman's most widely admired products are their aged Tawny Ports.
