Tasted blind. Overall score placed it fourth out of 12 wines. Light straw. Sweetish nose – one of the few! Candied violets on the nose. Light and off dry. Quite chunky, lime-marmalade impression. Not much undertow. Good texture and refreshment value on the finish. A little chew on the end. Lots of acidity underneath. A yeasty and lemon peel nose that possesses good freshness merges into crisp, straightforward and nicely detailed flavors that are pleasantly fruity and just complex enough to avoid being one-dimensional. I have never quite understood why, with such a distinguished range, that they can’t seem to do better with this cuvée. Rating: 87-87 Allen Meadows, www.Burghound.com
This smells nutty with a touch of honey, as if there’s some older reserve wine added to the latest vintage; and it’s deliciously, seductively full-bodied and rich on the palate, full-flavoured too with a seductive creamy textured mousse, lots of melt-in-the-mouth yeasty complexity and undertones of honey and nuttiness.
